Producing digipack

Advert

We added the same house style as the digi pack, the text is the same and the colour scheme. For the artist name we used the same layout at the digipack so the audience will know that they connect. The the songs name is positioned on the same place as the album too. The text is black so it can stand out from the image as the image is light. We added the release date of the song beneath the songs name which is smalled then the name. The website is at the bottom in white text so its different to the other texts.

We made a few changes to the final product. We added a black banner at the bottom on the advert and we decided to make the text white so it stands out for the audience.
Final
We dragged the banner behind the website link for it to look more professional as most adverts post their website link at the bottom.

Producing digipack

This is the inside left of our digipack, the image dark to relate the negative emotions of our video. We added text so when the audience takes the CD out of the package they see Florence's name and the songs name. The text is white so it can stand out from the background.

We made slight changes to the inside right, such as making the image even darker changing the tone to red as this represents the negative side of her emotions more. We added dark edges to make the leaves the key point, as this is part of our music video location. We took the text out as we want the CD to blend with the inside right.

Planning digipack

We designed our digipack on Photoshop the text will be using for our digipack and poster. We decided to design only the front cover so we can get idea of what we wanted to us:
Front Cover

Florence's name will be in capitals so it attracts the audience. The rest of the name will be written in a script font, as if its been written by Florence herself. The positioning of her name will be at the top and the image is going to be behind the text so the image stands out.
The song's name will be in front of the image but at the bottom. This will target the audience because it will show it is a new single.

Poster

For the poster we went with the same structure as the digipack so the audience will know what the digipack will look like.

Planning Digipack

Front cover

The front cover is inspired by Lana Del Rey's album Born to die, as it is simple yet the image and the position relates to her 'dark' indie songs. The layout of the cover is simple yet bold. Her name is at the top of the cover yet Lana Del Rey stands out. We chose to use the same location for our CD and poster from our video as the audience will recognise Florence and the Machine through our video.

Back Cover

Our back cover will be an image of our forest location however it won't be of our artist as we want to show the open space to the forest so it shows the audience the artist point of view of the forest. The song's same will be centered in the middle.

Left side

The left side of the digipack will be a close up image of the artist, the image will be of her 'hunting' which relates to our theme and the song's name as we are comparing the artist to a wolf.
Inside right

The CD will have an image of poison ivy, this relates to the forest theme and the artist emotion, as in the video she is confused, therefore the poison ivy will represent her confusion and her emotions.
Inside center

The center of the image will be the same as the CD, however this time it will have Florence's name and the song's name. As a result when someone takes out the CD they will see the recurring theme plus her name.

CASE STUDY DIGI PACK

CASE STUDY LANA DEL REY – BORN TO DIE
This album cover of Lana Del Rey is a mid-shot camera angle. The body angle of the artist is that she is directly looking at the camera. This is as if she is directly looking at her audience. The artist’s facial expression is very subtle and soft. The image is air brushed and the effect is very bright which makes the sky stand out alongside the clouds also the setting is very summery. It looks like she is on top of a building because of the trees and sky showing. Lana Del Rey is a controversial figure and is unique as an artist. The text that is used is basic and in capital letters. The colour of the font “LANA DEL REY” is white and the sky stands out because it being blue but then the opposite is done when the shirt is white and the colour of “BORN TO DIE”. The combination of the text and image goes well together because the name of the artist goes behind the image whereas the name of the album goes before the image. The album was promoted online as well as in magazines. The roses on the CD relates to our music video because it is in a forest and goes with the genre.

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - LUNGS
This album cover of Florence + the machine is also a mid-shot. The body language of the artist is very angelic and innocent; this is done by how she is looking away from the camera. The artist’s facial expression is subtle and at peace. The image is airbrushed and the effect is a bit cartoon like. She is lying in flowers with petals and leaves which shows the nature side which relates to our music video and the genre. The artist has lungs on her chest that relates to the name of the song. Artist is very nature based which is shown through her music videos and also album covers. The name of the artist “Florence + the machine” is written on the top on the border line of the album cover but not in capitals however the name of the album “LUNGS” is written in a different front but in capitals. The name of the album was put on top of her lungs. The combination of the image and text go well together because of the font used against the image of the artist. The lungs connotes that music and her voice is within her lungs. The colours used work well alongside the theme of nature because she is wearing cream and she is in flowers which show that she might be in a forest. The CD show the images of hands which look like the shame of lungs which relate to the name of the artist same as the back cover. Every song has a number which shows you a part of the lungs in the diagram.

PALOMA FAITH – FALL TO GRACE
This CD front cover is over dramatic because the costume and the props used. The body language of the artist is very innocent and vibrant because of the colors used, blue and red. The shot type is an extreme long shot. The lightening of the image is a dark but the artists face is bright. The image is highly air brushed this makes it look more appealing to the target audience. The images of the parrots have been edited into the cover. This is effective because the color contrasts work well and mainly because it looks like she is falling, fall to grace. This image is looks very nature based which is similar to our music video. The front that is used is very different but matches the abstract image yet the “fall to grace” is very simple. The font of the writing is white which makes it stand out. The effect of this image is quite dark yet the artist stands out because of the dark red and blue. Paloma Faith has very extravagant album covers. The text stands out against the dark background because it is in white.

Planning Digipack

We started planning out the design for our CD and advertisment, we drew our plan:

  • Front cover
  • Back cover
  • Right side
  • The CD/ center
  • Left side
  • The poster
We decided to keep the same location for our music video so the audience can see the link.
